How to protect your skin?

Your skin is attacked on a daily basis and needs to be protected to preserve its radiance and slow down premature aging. Find out how to care for your skin, from cleansing to moisturizing and protection.

The skin barrier plays a very important role in protecting your skin from external aggression. It is a protective barrier that prevents bacteria from penetrating the skin. It also helps maintain skin hydration, which is vital in the fight against skin ailments and sensitive skin

As explained, the skin barrier is an essential natural shield that needs to be cared for. When the skin barrier is healthy and reinforced, it helps to:

  • Prevent infection
  • Limit water loss
  • Protect against allergens and irritants in everyday products
  • Maintain skin balance

When the skin barrier fails, it can no longer play its protective role and can therefore lead to :

  • Acne
  • Dry, rough skin
  • Premature aging of the skin (also known as inflammaging
  • Inflammation, redness, itching
  • Skin conditions such as eczema

Protecting your skin from the sun is one of the first recommendations you should adopt to maintain a healthy, resistant skin barrier in the face of aggression. UV rays can cause sunburn, skin aging (link to article) and skin cancer..

Implementing good protection practices

- Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun between April and September, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Wear protective clothing and a hat or cap
- Use broad-spectrum sunglasses
- Apply a water-resistant sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 50. Reapply every 2 to 3 hours.

Analyze skin evolution

As well as applying the above tips to protect your skin from the sun, it's also very important to examine your skin regularly to detect any abnormal changes.

Don't hesitate to consult a dermatologist if you notice any abnormalities on your skin.

When abnormalities are detected early enough, it's possible to act quickly and avoid certain skin diseases or cancers.

Be particularly vigilant for moles, birthmarks, nodules, red patches or sores that won't heal.

The main criteria to look out for in a mole, for example, are asymmetry, irregular edges, uneven color, a diameter greater than 6 mm, changes over time, sensitivity or itching.

Protecting your skin from the aggressions of everyday life

In addition to the sun, other elements can attack your skin, such as pollution and stress.

Skin protection and pollution

Environmental pollution accelerates skin ageing. Pollutants such as fine particles can penetrate the skin and cause chronic inflammation. They can also damage skin cells, leading to clogged pores and the appearance of skin conditions such as psoriasis.

To protect your skin from pollution, it needs to be thoroughly cleansed with suitable (non-aggressive) products and moisturized. These simple gestures will help maintain and strengthen the skin barrier, making it less permeable to pollutants.

Sensibio Defensive serum is a moisturizing concentrate that strengthens the skin against external aggressors and reduces the signs of premature aging. It's an excellent product for moisturizing your skin, and when combined with a cleanser, will help ensure healthy skin.

Skin protection and stress

The skin is also subject to internal risk factors such as stress. In fact, the nervous system and the skin are physiologically linked. Stress, for example, can cause skin dryness by unbalancing the cutaneous barrier. Weakened, the barrier becomes permeable, leading to inflammation and skin diseases such as hyperseborrhea, eczema and psoriasis.

Sensibio Defensive riche is a cream designed to boost the self-defense power of sensitive skin under attack from environmental aggressors. It reinforces the skin's moisture barrier and provides lasting protection against dryness.

By following our skin care recommendations, you'll enjoy healthy, radiant skin all year round.
